Privacy Policy

Last updated 26 August 2026

This policy covers itbyjc.com.au and explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who else sees it, and what you can do about it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

In this policy, "we" and "us" means I.T by J.C, based in Sydney, New South Wales.

What we collect

When you fill in our contact form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, the service you are asking about, your preferred call time, how urgent it is, and whatever you write in the message field. All of that is information you choose to give us.

When you browse the site, we collect analytics data about how the site is used: pages viewed, roughly how long for, which site or search you arrived from, and general device and browser information. This includes an approximate location derived from your IP address, usually no more precise than a city.

Our hosting provider keeps server logs, which include IP addresses, as part of running and securing the site.

We do not have user accounts, we do not take payments through this site, and we do not ask for or want sensitive information through the contact form. Please do not send us health information, government identifiers or anything similar through a web form.

Why we collect it

Contact form details are used to answer your enquiry and, if you become a customer, to deliver the work and stay in touch about it. We do not sell your information, and we do not add you to a marketing list because you sent an enquiry.

Analytics data is used to understand which parts of the site are useful, so we can improve them. It is looked at in aggregate rather than to identify individuals.

Cookies and analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, which sets cookies in your browser to recognise return visits and measure how the site is used. We also use Google reCAPTCHA on the contact form to stop automated spam, which sets its own cookies and analyses interaction with the page.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site will still work, although the reCAPTCHA on the contact form may not.

Who else sees your information

We use a small number of service providers to run this site and receive enquiries. Each of them only handles what they need to.

  • Microsoft. Contact form submissions are delivered into our Microsoft Teams workspace, and our email runs on Microsoft 365.
  • Resend. Contact form submissions are also emailed to us, and Resend delivers that email.
  • Google. Analytics and reCAPTCHA, as described above.
  • Netlify. Hosts the website and keeps server logs.

We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.

Information sent overseas

Some of those providers store or process information outside Australia, most commonly in the United States. That applies to Google, Netlify and Resend. Microsoft 365 data for our business is held in Australian data centre regions.

By sending us an enquiry you accept that it will be handled by these providers, including outside Australia. We choose providers that publish their own privacy and security commitments, but once information is overseas it is subject to the laws of that country.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as we may reasonably need them, which includes keeping a record of work done for customers. Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then deleted automatically. If you would like us to delete an enquiry sooner, ask and we will, unless we are required to keep it.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Our contact form is submitted over an encrypted connection, enquiries are delivered to accounts protected by multi-factor authentication, and access is limited to people who need it.

No system is perfectly secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected people and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

Getting access, or correcting something

You can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email contact@itbyjc.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable time, normally 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first. There is no charge for asking.

If you are unhappy with how we handled your information

Tell us first, at contact@itbyjc.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint and aim to resolve it within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what we do changes. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
